The Wat Visoun is the oldest and one of the most beautiful temples of Luang Prabang. It was built in 1520 by King Visounnarat. The first thing to strike the visitor, is the enormous That Makmo, which in on the temple compound. Because of its odd shape, this stupa is known as the 'watermelon stupa'. This lotus-stupa, dating back to 1503, has more of a Sinhalese style.
