Without any doubt, Wat Si Saket is one of the most beautiful temples of Vientiane. It is the only temple that was not destroyed by the Siamese army, when they burned most of Vientiane in 1828. The Thai considered the temple to special to destroy. Wat Si Saket is the oldest Lao temple, and according to many, the most beautiful. In niches in the back wall of the gallery around the temple, no less than 6,840 Buddha images can be counted. Inside in the Sim, photography is forbidden, although for a small fee, the guards may allow you anyway.
