Vang Vieng is a small town, approximately halfway Luang Prabang (170km) and Vientiane (155km). The last couple of years, Vang Vieng has become more and more popular with travellers. Of course this is due to the splendid surroundings and the abundance of activities that can be undertaken here. The Nam Song river flows here, amidst karts limestone mountains and rice paddies, and there are some deep caves.Vang Vieng

The best known caves are Tham Jang, Tham Phu Kham and Tham Sang. The area directly around Vang Vieng is ideal for making some beautiful walks. Those who are in for some more adventure, don't need to feel bored here. You can go kayaking here, explore the caves by boat, do mountain climbing, rafting or mountain biking. Another very popular activity here is 'tubing' on the Nam Song river, floating along on tractor inner tubes.
In the evening there is a choice of restaurants in the centre of Vang Vieng.
