The Phu Khao Khuay, the Buffalo Horn Mountain, lies in a national park, an area with spectacular sandstone cliffs and river gorges, and an abundant wildlife. Elephants, gibbons and the Asiatic black bear can be spotted here. The three rivers of this park all flow into the Mekong River. Along the banks of the Ang Nam reservoir - also in this park - there are some restaurants. The park is located 40 kilometres north-east of Vientiane, making it the most easily accessed protected area of Laos.

Take a look at the website of Phu Khao Khuay for an overview of the options in this beautiful park.
