The Lao National Museum is housed in an old French colonial building in Vientiane. It was founded to display the blessings of the 1970's revolution. The building was built in 1925 as a residence for the French governor. The museum gives an idea of the History of Laos, and especially of the struggle of the Lao people against foreign occupation. Although many rooms are dedicated to the revolution, not all of the museum is about the communist victory. There are for example also rooms with traditional musical instruments or with Khmer sandstone sculptures.

The museum is located on the Samsenthai road, opposite of the Lao National Cultural Hall. It opens from 8:00 until 12:00 and from 13:00 until 16:00. Look at the Interactive map of Laos for the exact location.
